May Stamp of The Month| Best Friend Layout

To My Bestie....

We all have our bestie, my person, and I go back 20+ years! We met in 7th grade, and we were just like "YOU! I pick you to be my best friend for life" This page was inspired by our friendship, and I have the perfect pictures to add to this, one from highschool and one taken last summer!

Okay yadda, yadda, yadda down to the artwork, right!!!
Starting with the stamp set - this set has this beautiful image of two best friends, embracing each other. It's screams color me with the ShinHan markers and paper piece my outfit!!!  Check out the balloons and the bouquet of flowers, each are designed to fit in the girls hand! I LOVE that!  Ok scroll down to see what my take was on this!

Check out this super cute layout...at the end I will go over just how I created this!

Lets go over the supplies I used:

  • White Daisy cardstock
  • Eggplant cardstock
  • May Stamp of the Month
  • ShinaHan Touch twin alcohol markers
  • Black glitter paper
  • Black shimmer brush
  • Paper trimmer
  • 3D foam squares
  • Intense Black ink (Great for coloring - no bleed)
  • CTMH adhesive
  • Dinner plate
  • White Eraser

Now how to make this!

  • Cut White Daisy to 11.75 x 11.75
  • Adhere to 12x12 Eggplant cardstock.
  • Using a dinner plate - eyeball center it on top of your white Daisy and lightly trace it. Using this as a guide stamp the flower cluster in intense black all the way around. Fill in the space between clusters with the single daisy image.
  • Using a WHITE eraser, remove your circle pencil mark....use a colored eraser, and you run the risk of transfering that color to your white daisy! just sayin'
  • Using the following ShinHan colors - color in each set of flowers and leaves Carmin, Lavender, Golden Yellow, Cherry Pink, Cerulean Blue light, Tender Pink, Turquoise Blue, Leaf Green, Vivid Green.
  • Stamp 5 additional flower clusters, color and fussy cut set aside.
  • Stamp Best Friends image in intense black ink on a 3x3 white daisy cardstock. color with Cerulean blue light and Vivid Green for the shirts, Golden Yellow and Pastel Green for the blonde hair, Bronze, Clay and Mahogany for the brown hair. Use Pastel Peach, Barely Beige and a touch of Light orange for the skin. Stamp 'could not have asked for a better" in the upper left hand corner, and then 'FRIEND' over the image. Finish by drawing a doodle around the edges of the white daisy.
  • Stamp bouquet of flowers and color as desired.
  • Splatter black shimmer paint from the shimmer brush by tapping it over the project.
  • Cut 3 - 3.5x3.5 squares from Black Glitter paper adhere to the right side of the page.
  • Adhere the bestie image to the bottom glitter paper matte.
  • Grab the 5 extra flower clusters, add 3D foam squares to the back, and place them every 2 flower cluster on top...
  • Stamp best Friends at the bottom of the page.
I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial!

Block Stamping| Monochromatic Rainbow layout

Okay so my title may be stretching the term monochromatic a bit...however, it sort of does fit!

April is almost to an end, and of course I had to wait until fours days before it retires to show you all this limited edition stamp set! Hey I'm a busy mom of four kids, one that is about to be a freshman in high school, like seriously, am I really old enough to have a highschool student?!?!  Enough with the chatter and on with the artwork!
(P.S. There is a YouTube Video below if you want to skip to the visual tutorial)

Here is the super cute limited edition stamp set!

For this tutorial I am starting with a basic white daisy card stock (I am not using waterpaper - keep that in mind)

Using a 2x6.5 inch block I applied ink generously to it's surface. Then using my mist spray pen, I applied enough water to the block to get the ink moving. Next in one swift motion I drag my block across my paper, carrying my ink with it....it sort of suctions its self to the paper (was not expecting that) so just keep pulling... below is the look you are trying to achieve.

Next, while your ink is still 'wet' on your paper, grab your spritz cleaner. Drop or splatter this onto your work, as you can see above, you will end up with 'white dots' among your ink. Similar effect you can often see this done with oxide inks and water. Pretty cool that you can do this with waterbased dye inks too!

Now you will want to stamp your flowers and butterflies. I choose to two options (see the video below) One was a monochromatic approach, where which ever color I blocked stamped across the page, that same color was used to stamp my images. In my second version, I stamped all of my images in a shade darker then that in which I block stamped with. Fussy cut each image out, making sure to leave a white boarder.

Now layer your pieces to your page, and when you feel the placement is right, stamp your foliage to the page. Adhere your pieces down, being sure to add some 3D foam dots/squares/tape to some or all for dimension.

Finish your page off, by adding your sentiment or title and splattering some black shimmer brush over your piece. Add a photo matte and photo!

Here is version two...Which I LOVE!

Here is version one...which I REALLY LOVE!!!!

As promised here is a video from my Facebook Live modified for YouTube showing the above process in action:

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Favorite Tool| Heart2Heart Challenge

What is your go to Scrapbooking tool?

Hands down, every time I need to trim, or fussy cut, my Close to My Heart non-stick, Micro-Tip scissors are what I reach for.  I have 4 pairs, two are missing (My husbands fault) the other two are on my work table. So what is sooo special about these scissors?

First they are coated, with a non-stick surface to cut through adhesive without sticking. This is a must for me, I am always cutting my 3D foam tape down or over hang on paper that has adhesive on the back of it. I do not have worry about these scissors gumming up and becoming tough to move! Must for my fingers since my knuckles swell often.

Second, they are small and super sharp for detailed cutting. So when I am cutting something as small and detailed such as the sign and wreath below, I am able to turn my paper and get into those fine areas.

My second favorite CTMH tool is the shimmer brushes. In the card above you can see shimmer on the barn door. I used our Sugarplum shimmer brush.  Check out this 3 minute tutorial on the brushes and all 6 colors available.

Love Blossoms| Dutch Door Card Tutorial

Have you seen or did you get your Love Blossoms Stamp set yet?

If not, this tutorial will certainly have you adding one to your shopping cart!  We are going to create a dutch door card using a pre-scored card base and the Love Blossoms Stamp set. Scroll down for the YouTube Video tutorial from my Facebook Live Coffee and Cards!

For those that like typed instructions, here is a basic step by step tutorial.
  • Using a Close to My Heart card base, cut the card off the score line.
  • Turning one piece horizontal, trim at 4.50 inches and score at 4.25 inches. Turn this piece vertical, and trim at 3.75 inches.
  • Stamp image in Charcoal ink close to the top of your 4.50x3.75 inch piece.
  • Use  a paper trimmer to eyeball a straight cut from the edge to the closest stamped image on each side. Then fussy cut around the rest if the foliage and flowers.
  • Colored in using block inking in new England ivy for the foliage and pixie for the flowers.
  • Stamp sentiment in versa mark ink and heat embossed in ranger black embossing powder.
  • Attach door to base using strong double sided tape.
  • To finish the card off, Use the sugar plum shimmer brush  o highlight the flowers, and the black shimmer brush  with the end of paint brush to splatter black shimmer on to the card.

For those that love a visual tutorial, here is my Facebook Live Coffee and Cards upload to YouTube.

Supplies can be purchased via my online shop if you do not have a consultant! :) DanYellScraps

March Stamp of the Month| This Happen

This stamp set is perfect for scrapbookers!

Hands down the 3x4 size documenting stamp is ideal for almost any layout. I can see this be used OVER and OVER for years to come.  These are the moments I want to remember., what I love about this, is it is great for bullet points or a short story.... Speaking of bullet points, they even included a lined bullet point set!!!

Here is my layout I created using many of these stamps...

Using the small icons (Heart, X, Arrow, and Flower) I created a border on the left page and colored them in using the CTMH Touch Twin ShinHan markers. You can also find the What Matters stamped in Sapphire and then 3D foam added and adhered to the & sign. You can find this in the cut a part sheet within the So Much Happy paper collection (our paper is BOGO 1/2 off right now)
Check out the Take note banner, to give this depth, this was first stamped directly on the page, then again on scrap white daisy, and fussy cut using micro tip scissors (simply the best scissors ever).
The last stamp used is the word 'THIS' from THIS Happen. By masking off happen, I was able to keep just THIS showing. I also used the CTMH Touch Twin ShinHan markers to color in the letters.
Cut a parts are found fussy cut through out the layout...

Here is a stunning layout idea using the March SOTM from Close to My Heart. Here you can see that 3x4 journaling stamp. How perfect is that?!?!

If you do not have a CTMH Sister, please swing by my online store --> DanYellScraps <---- a=""> to snag your own March Stamp of the month.

Remember our Paper is BOGO 1/2 off right now, spend $50.00 and you can add the Stamp of the month to your cart for $5.00 ($18.95 normally) How cool is that?!?!

Want to see more of the March Stamp of the month? Great, I have some adorable layouts, check out my So Much Happy workshop kit to see them all!
